Day of Mourning (Monday, September 28, 2009)

Okay, so it's not really a day of mourning, but I did wear all black today, as is traditional for me, celebrating the loss of yet another year. I did get a number of happy wishes on Facebook, today, and got a call from both parents. I even got a few wishes from coworkers. But mostly, it's a day like any other — sitting around the office, freezing, because the air conditioning is set to "blizzard". And I'm trying to figure out where to go for dinner. I'm leaning towards Morton's. I haven't a steak for a while.

In other news, I'm in the midst of house renovations, which is going quite a bit slower than I'd prefer. I had Home Depot install new windows, in order to improve sound insulation, and add low-E glass to improve energy efficiency, except that they mismeasured one of the windows, and will need to come back on Friday, to install that window. And they make a ton of noise and mess in the process. When they got the rest of the windows installed, two weeks ago, they did a fine job with the actual construction part, but not so much on the detail work — they left big gauges in the window frames, they didn't put down nearly enough drop cloths, so dust and debris got everywhere, and then they didn't bother to clean the windows! Particularly the picture windows, that require a 30 foot ladder to reach! Anyway, I've requested that they take care of the finishing work this week.
