So tonight, we heard the Rammstein song, "Amerika" off their new Album
"Reise, Reise", on Headbangers Ball. Claire wanted a translation of the
lyrics, so I took a stab at it. There are some idioms, and a little bit
of made-up vocabulary, but I did the best I could, which is a lot better
than an online translator. If you come up with something better, feel
free to let me know:
"Amerika" by Rammstein, from "Reise, Reise", 2004.
We're all living in America,
America is wonderful.
We're all living in America,
America, America.
If you want to dance, I want to lead,
and if you turn alone,
leave you a little control,
I'll show you how it rightly goes.
We make a nice circle,
freedom plays from every Violin,
music comes from the White House,
And Mickey Mouse is head of Paris.
I know steps that are very useful,
And will protect you from straying,
and he who won't dance in the end,
doesn't know that dance he must!
I'll show you the direction,
Santa Claus comes from Africa,
And Mickey Mouse is head of Paris.
We're all living in America,
America is wonderful.
We're all living in America,
Coca-cola, Wonderbra,
We're all living in America,
America, America.
This is not a loving song,
I don't sing my mother tongue.
No, this is not a love song.
We're all living in America,
America is wonderful,
We're all living in America,
Coca-Cola, sometimes war,
We're all living in America,
America, America.
