- To hell with the pig... I'm going to Switzerland.

Alexandria Waterfront Festival (Monday, June 21, 2004)

Well, I haven't been online all weekend. Friday night, Claire and I had dinner with my parents at Bennigan's, then we went shopping at Hot Topic. Saturday, we went on a nice 12 mile bike ride from Cameron Run to the Water Front Festival in Old Towne Alexandria, where we saw the Kalmar Nyckel... briefly... and back. Then we went swimming at Cameron Run... for about twenty minutes. The water slides there are absolutely incredible. And by incredible, I mean absolutely terrifying. The Hydrotube and Ben Lomond has nothing on these. Holy cow. Later, Dan and Greg came over and cooked an eclectic assortment of ground meats — I had a lamb burger that was excellent — and we watched Master and Commander (which I need to get) and The Usual Suspects (which I also need to get).

Yesterday, I helped my mom out working at the car show — the turnout was huge, and it was a lot of fun, except for getting burnt to a crisp directing traffic. I think this year we had more people than ever before and the parking and traffic went smoother. Can't complain about that.

Later, I joined my parents for a Father's Day dinner at Applebee's, and then went home to attempt to set up my new laptop. Sadly, my XP CD didn't come with the key, so I had to bail out. Though now, I have the key, and I will probably spend some time on that this afternoon. After that, it was bubble bath time, and then to bed!

This morning, I woke to an interesting turn of events — the deck contractor had started building the deck, and had set up shop in my driveway. So once again, I'm working from home, as there is half a ton of lumber between my car and the open road. I had to explain to the contractor about making sure the decking has the correct side facing up, and he had no idea what I was talking about. That concerns me. The fact that they don't return my calls also concerns me. And the fact that my phone is still on the fritz from dropping it concerns me. I need to find time to get it looked at. Soon.

Tonight, I'm going to see Reel Big Fish, and we managed to score tickets to see Oakenfold on the 4th of July. There's lots and lots going on, but now I think it is time to see about setting up that new laptop computer.
